33 Things You Can Do To Fight Boredom If You're Self-Isolating
In the Covid-19 age we’re now all living in, social distancing and self-isolation is really important to stopping the virus in its tracks. But, despite doing the right thing, a lot of people are worrying about having to spend so much time confined to their own spaces, many of us without roomates or family to accompany us. So without further ado, here’s a list of things you can be getting up to whilst in lockdown or quarantine.
Finally get around to watching those films and series on your watch lists. Netflix, Amazon Prime (and soon, Disney+): thank you.
Clean your home.
Get more sleep.
Make your way through those unread books on your shelf.
Catch up on your laundry.
Make a list of those “big” jobs you need to do around the house; pick one off the list every day.
Get artistic: paint, draw, whatever shifts your focus.
Sharpen up those cooking skills and make your meals more interesting.
Take up a new hobby. Use YouTube tutorials and other online resources for help.
Let hours fly by working on a jigsaw puzzle.
If jigsaws aren’t your thing, flex that concentration with a puzzle book. Crosswords, sudokus, whatever floats your boat.
Explore new potential projects that you can get cracking on whilst in quarantine.
Set up FaceTime dates with friends and family.
Use Google Chrome’s extension Netflix Party and stream a movie with your friends.
Learn a language.
Get a colouring book.
If you’ve got a garden, get it spring ready and plant some seeds.
Clear out and organise your wardrobe.
Go online and organise a gaming tournament with your friends (or meet new gamers!)
Journal.
Meditate.
Give yourself extra self-care and have a pamper day.
Take a leaf out of Rapunzel’s book and pick one of her daily activities.
Two words: baked goods.
You know those hundreds of Pins saved on your Pinterest? Give one a go.
Turn your lounge into an at-home cinema. Blankets, mood lighting, popcorn, the whole shebang.
Put together a photo album of your favourites.
Alternatively, remember those family photos you’ve been meaning to digitise? Get scanning.
Make or watch TikToks. Scientifically proven to make hours fly by.
Teach your dog new tricks. (Remember to wash your hands)
Get some personal admin done. Boring, but necessary.
Expand your mind with an online course. Open University offers some great free options.
Stretch.
But above all, be safe. Keep safe distances from others. Isolate wherever possible. Wash your hands. Don’t stockpile. If you begin to display symptoms, call 111 and follow medical advice.
