Halsey's Feminist Response To An Instagram Troll Has Gone Viral And It's Giving Us Life
Halsey, aside from her superstar status, is far from shy when it comes to feminism. She often speaks out about her identity as a bisexual, and as a mixed race woman, and she frequently advocates for LGBTQ+ rights. Even when it comes to her time in the spotlight, she discusses feminist ideals openly at her concerts and during interviews.
Recently, Halsey has graced a couple of covers including both Playboy and Flaunt's 'Aftershock' issue, and took to Instagram to post the shots to her followers. The post was immediately flooded with comments from fans, but one comment took the singer by surprise.
'You are a feminist but you flash your boobs in Playboy magazine.'
It didn't take long for Halsey to fire back, and she received a (albeit figurative) standing ovation from all of us:
'Yea it's crazy,' she replied in the comments section. 'I can show my tits in Playboy, perform at the Nobel Peace, speak at the Planned Parenthood Gala with Hillary Clinton, shake my ass on 300 stages, give a speech at the United Nations, do 150 shots of tequila, get a #1 album, and march in the streets of DC all in just ONE year!!!! Newsflash. A woman can be multi dimensional.'
To then reaffirm her response, she uploaded a screenshot of the comments with the caption, 'JUST so we are fucking CLEAR.'
Way to go, Halsey. A little louder from the people in the back.
